Tampa Marching Band Competition Results!

10/21/2018

On Saturday October 20th the Marching Raiders performed in competition at the 23rd Annual Tarpon Springs Outdoor Music Festival at Tarpon Springs High School.
Our Saturday Began at Gulf High School (New Port Richey) with a very hot 2-hour rehearsal.  A special thanks to Band Director Billy Rutherford and his Principal (and UGA alumni) Kimberly Davis for opening their campus to us for a much-needed rehearsal session.  We had lunch and then arrived to a very busy Tarpon Springs High School campus where we changed and watched most of the afternoon performances.  Our Marching Raiders were the final Band to perform in class 5A to a packed stadium - and when results were in finished third in class!  In addition, we were awarded the best-in-class soloist award and earned a new award - the Esprit-de-Corps award - for the group who displayed the best fellowship, enthusiasm and pride.  Needless to say we're very proud of our students for a job well done!
Another very special thanks goes out to the group of Booster parents who gave up their weekend to travel with us and serve our students on this trip. Their efforts did not go unnoticed. We even had an alumni parent driving one of our equipment trucks!   So to our traveling parents - we really APPRECIATE YOU!!
PARENTS - return ETA Sunday evening is still 9:30pm - we EMAILED OUT the detailed schedule via CHARMS last week.  Students will call you to update our ETA as we approach Atlanta this evening.  And YES - we could use help unloading the two equipment trucks.
Our final competition will be at Milton High School (White Columns Invitational) on Saturday November 3.  We hope you'll plan to come out and support your Marching Raiders!
MARCHING RAIDERS.... ALL THE TIME!!
