Alpharetta Band Boosters Association

Meet the Board

What is ABBA?  A Swedish band from the 70's? No, it's your very own Alpharetta Band Boosters Association!  The High School Band Boosters is the organization that supports ALL our band students. It allows the band directors to focus on developing the talent of our students by coordinating activities for the band and by providing additional resources where necessary. We work closely with the band directors, who are also members of the Band Boosters Board, to assist them in whatever way possible.

In this day of cut backs and fund decreases, it is essential that we supplement the limited funds that are allocated to the band budget in order to enhance the educational experience of our students.  The best thing you can do is to volunteer.  There is a volunteer opportunity to suit everyone's time schedule and interest. It takes an army of volunteers to make things run smoothly for the band and although they won’t admit it, your kids actually like having their parents involved in some band activities!  Contact us by clicking here for more information.

President
Annie has a senior daughter, Imogen, in Color Guard.   Her other daughters are Jojo, a junior at Kennesaw who is continuing with guard there, and a senior, Niamh, at UGA.  Both Niamh and Jojo were involved in the band for their entire four years in high school.  Marching band is a unique experience showing our children that community is important and that the sum of who they are is more important than any one individual.  They make their mark showing what they can do, not what they can’t do.  This is Annie’s 8th year volunteering for the band any way she can.  Her husband, Andy, also volunteers at Ameris Bank Amphitheater, Friday night football games and in building the props for both marching band and winter guard.  In 8 years Annie has never missed a Friday night, but still can’t work out what is happening on the field, unless the band is playing!

Amanda Curd is the proud mom of Hunter, a senior trumpet player and recent Eagle Scout.   She grew up in the Midwest and played baritone with the Marching Wildcats of Libertyville High School in the Chicago suburbs.  She and her husband, David, are frequent volunteers for the Ameris Amphitheater shows and can be found on home game Fridays in the middle of pre-game meals and parking cars.  Amanda is a proud two-time band camp survivor (!) and she is extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve our world-class Raider Band program.

Angie Carruthers is mom to Andrew, junior and saxophonist.  Andrew plays the baritone saxophone in concert band and alto saxophone in marching band.  Originally from Chicago, Angie and Andrew relocated to Alpharetta in 2013.  Angie started volunteering when Andrew joined the marching band his freshman year at AHS. She began her volunteer experience with Friday night meals, chaperoning during 8thGrade Night and as a roadie for an away-game. She enjoys volunteering in different areas because it gives her a unique perspective of Andrew’s community and how band is helping him develop into a young adult. Currently, Angie acts as liaison between board members, music directors and parents, in addition to coordinating the weekly newsletter.

Liaison
Niamh Goggin has a sophomore son, Eoin, who plays baritone/euphonium in marching band and concert band. This is her second year with the band. She is excited to fulfill the role of liaison between marching band and the school governance council. Niamh has been so encouraged to see her freshman, through the rigors of marching band, grow in responsibility, accountability and see his love of music of all types and genres develop. The Goggin family continue to always be so grateful for all the hard work Mr. Stroud put into our students in middle school and everything Mr. Jenkins and AHS does to further this. Go Marching Raiders!
