The Alpharetta Varsity Winter Guard began its Winter Guard International (www.wgi.org) competition tour this past weekend in Knoxville, Tennessee. They competed with teams from all over the southeast. The team finished first in their round winning all captions. This qualified them to compete in the final round. In finals, the team had quite an emotional performance and received a standing ovation from the audience. The judges were very impressed and awarded the team a first place finish for the entire competition. This placement has our team now ranked #5 in the country!! The team will continue its national competition tour in Atlanta on March 2 and then at Winthrop University in South Carolina on March 16. They will finish the season competing at the Winter Guard International World Championships in Dayton, Ohio, during spring break. Mr. Jenkins, Mrs. Schlosser, Mrs. Lukes, Mr. Parent and Mr. Walsh are very proud of the team and their hard work.

The 2019 LGPE (large-group-performance-evaluation) Preview concert is Wednesday February 6 in the AHS Theater beginning at 7pm. ALL BANDS WILL BE PERFORMING. Students should dress in concert attire.
CALL TIMES are as follows: Symphonic Band II - 6:15pm on stage; Symphonic Band I and Wind Ensemble 6:30pm in Band Building to grab stuff and move to the theater.
This is an evaluated but not adjudicated event; judges will be present to give feedback on the concert but not assign ratings. The purpose is to help our students be more prepared for their LGPE (March 5 @ Chattahoochee HS) by having a different set of ears critically listening to our ensembles. AND it gives our bands a chance to get on stage and get nerves settled!
The concert begins at 7pm and is FREE and open to the public - please join us!!
