The District Honor Band event will take place on Friday/Saturday February 1-2, 2019 at North Atlanta High School (concerts on Saturday evening Feb. 2nd beginning at 5pm).  Be sure to get the printed acceptance form and schedule from Mr. Walsh ASAP.  Placement scores are from the first round of the All State Band audition.  Honor Band is selected based on audition score and instrumentation needs.  So it is possible to earn a spot in the honor band and not have passed the first round of all state - or passed the first round of all state auditions but not made it into the honor band.

The second round is the entire etude and two pieces of sight reading.  Students, prepare NOW.  This is your opportunity to get extra help - before the semester break.  Mr. Walsh and Mr. Jenkins will be in Chicago during exam week, so let's work this week.  Audition times for round two are TBA, transportation will be on your own (112 miles from AHS, allow plenty of time to get there).

ATTENTION ALL BAND STUDENTS:  In the unlikely event of extreme wind, rain, flood, cold, heat, snow, earthquake, etc... and the school system closes for a day... and you are stuck at home with no assignment, now you have an assignment!   If the school CLOSES for a weather day, DOWNLOAD this assignment

YOU WILL NEED YOUR INSTRUMENT to complete.  The assignment is due 3 days after the date the school re-opens.  The completed assignment should be posted to your OneNote notebook.  You will receive TWO grades - one for turning it in on time, the other for the quality of the content.  

All State Audition Times Published

The first round of All State Band auditions will be hosted @ Alpharetta HS on Saturday December 8, 2018.  Times have been posted and will be available to students in the Bandroom.  If you have questions see Mr. Jenkins.  

This audition is also for the GMEA District 5 Honor Band.  WORK HARD NOW.  Need Help?  Sign up for extra help in the Bandroom.  There is also a audition preparation clinic at Kennesaw State University this Saturday December 1.  You must register online to attend. 


Kennesaw State University School of Music is offering an All State Band Audition HELP WORKSHOP this Saturday December 1, 2018.  You can get details by going to the KSU WEBSITE.  Cost is $10 and it includes a half-day of instruction plus lunch.  

The workshop is open to anyone, pre-registration is required.  Deadline is SOON, do not delay - register now!

This is a GREAT OPPORTUNITY to get professional help preparing for the first round of auditions, which are Saturday December 8 (hosted at AHS);  don't miss out!!!
