Placement audition videos allow directors to plan the ensembles for the next school year.  All State members do not need to submit scales, 8th graders do not need to submit the etude unless you are trying for a chair in Wind Ensemble or Symphonic Band I.  Everyone should have been working on scales all year - and working on the posted etude for the past month.  VIDEO AUDITION LINKS WERE DUE BY 3.26 AT MIDNIGHT FOR ALL CURRENT 9th/10th/11th GRADERS;  DEADLINE FOR 8th GRADERS WAS THURSDAY 3.29 by MIDNIGHT.  If you have any questions please This email address is being protected from spambots. Common questions about the process:

Is there a time limit for scales?  Yes, your 12 major scales plus arpeggios will be timed;  they should be completed on the video in 2.5 minutes or less on the same video (do not pause the recording device).  Remember to call each scale before you play it, and do not transpose scales (clarinets, your C is "C", not "concert Bb").  If you are confused about this, ask your director.  If the video is turned off and back on during the scale portion of the video you will lose points.  Do I have to submit everything on one video?  That is what we prefer. If you pause between scales and the etude, we're OK with this.  We're trying to avoid two seperate videos from every student.

The alternative to these videos are LIVE auditions, which in our opinion create more performance anxiety and less opportunity for most students - and dont allow for do-overs.  FINALLY - read the instuctions posted in your Onenote in the content library.  If you didnt get into your OneNote notebook, This email address is being protected from spambots. California UPDATES

A traffic reporter has advised that we move our start time on Thursday morning a bit earlier to allow for traffic issues and extended check-in time with large group.  We will meet Thursday morning at 5:00am (1 hour earlier).  Get revised schedule HERE.  A more detailed schedule will be sent via CHARMS EMAIL.  Attached to the same email you will also receive some very specific info about trip expectations and "what to bring."  If you do not receive this email, perhaps we do not have your best email address.  REPLY HERE with the email address you check regularly.

PLEASE DO NOT BE LATE.  Most students will be checking 2 bags (suitcase, instrument) so it will take a while for us to get through checkin and security.

Large Group Performance Evaluation for all Bands will be on Tuesday March 6, 2018 at Johns Creek High School.  ALL BANDS WILL PERFORM.  This is in a sense, an "annual" evaluation for our ensembles.  Students should bring Concert attire to school with them on this day.  All performances are open to the public.  The SCHEDULE can be viewed / downloaded HERE.

2018 Percussion Placement Etudes

Percussion Placement etudes are now posted on this website on the music page.  Refer to your OneNote account for instructions for recording.  Remember, you will record only etudes, no scales.
