NEXT UP: All State Band Auditions

The first round of All State Band auditions will be Saturday December 8 AT AHS.  Alpharetta HS Bands has traditionally placed a high number of students in this ensemble, so working hard now is critical.  The audition also counts as the audition for the GMEA District 5 Honor Band (to be held in February, see calendar).

We are hosting this GMEA event, which means we need to not only prepare our own auditions, we will also need plenty of "hands of deck" to facilitate the event.  Students, please see Mr. Jenkins to sign up to help at the event.  It is imperative that we do out part to ensure that auditions go as smooth as possible at the facility level.   WORK HARD NOW and prepare your audition.  See Mr. Walsh or Mr. Jenkins for help NOW - not December 7.

Good Luck!!

White Columns Results

On Saturday November 3rd our Marching Raiders had a very productive day at The Milton High School White Columns Invitational Marching Band competition.  We finished with straight Superior ratings and placed FIRST in class 4A.  Our Guard finished with the highest scores for the entire event - way to go!  In addition our Band earned “most entertaining show” for the entire event.

We are very proud of our Marching Raiders for a great season and a job well done!

White Columns Invitational This Week

The final Marching Band competition of the season is THIS SATURDAY November 3 at Milton High School.  We WILL be rehearsing Saturday morning at AHS, the going through our normal load routine (2 trucks) prior To dressing and heading over to Milton.  We'll unload trucks after dinner.  WARM UP (area A) is @ 6:40;  the performance is at 7:40.  A detailed schedule can be downloaded HERE.

Parents, please plan to come out and support our final show - it promises to be the best yet.  We are proud of our Marching Raiders for their hard work and dedication and look forward to a great “finale“ to the 2018 season!

Fall Cluster Concert THIS Thursday!

The 15th Annual Fall Cluster Concert featuring the Webb Bridge MS Bands, the Alpharetta High School Wind Ensemble, and the Marching Raiders is Thursday November 1, 2018 at 7pm in the AHS Theater.  This concert offers an amazing snapshot of where our students start (6th grade) - and the amazing progress they make by the time they get to High School.  It's a chance to hear both beginners and advanced All State musicians - all in the same concert!  The music is always spectacular (this year will be no exception) - and it's usually standing-room only for the grand finale.  The concert is free and open to the public.

Please plan to join us!

Tampa Marching Band Competition Results!

On Saturday October 20th the Marching Raiders performed in competition at the 23rd Annual Tarpon Springs Outdoor Music Festival at Tarpon Springs High School.

Our Saturday Began at Gulf High School (New Port Richey) with a very hot 2-hour rehearsal.  A special thanks to Band Director Billy Rutherford and his Principal (and UGA alumni) Kimberly Davis for opening their campus to us for a much-needed rehearsal session.  We had lunch and then arrived to a very busy Tarpon Springs High School campus where we changed and watched most of the afternoon performances.  Our Marching Raiders were the final Band to perform in class 5A to a packed stadium - and when results were in finished third in class!  In addition, we were awarded the best-in-class soloist award and earned a new award - the Esprit-de-Corps award - for the group who displayed the best fellowship, enthusiasm and pride.  Needless to say we're very proud of our students for a job well done!

Another very special thanks goes out to the group of Booster parents who gave up their weekend to travel with us and serve our students on this trip. Their efforts did not go unnoticed. We even had an alumni parent driving one of our equipment trucks!   So to our traveling parents - we really APPRECIATE YOU!!

PARENTS - return ETA Sunday evening is still 9:30pm - we EMAILED OUT the detailed schedule via CHARMS last week.  Students will call you to update our ETA as we approach Atlanta this evening.  And YES - we could use help unloading the two equipment trucks.

Our final competition will be at Milton High School (White Columns Invitational) on Saturday November 3.  We hope you'll plan to come out and support your Marching Raiders!
